Proper Tools to Correct Your Backswing to get a New Golf Swing

In order to get a good golf backswing in golf, it’s important to have your club about 8-12 inches away from the ball. Make sure you only use the hands and arms during this process. During the backswing, keep both your hands and club-face square to the line. Remember, no forearm rolling or wrist turning.

When you do this you will be able to keep the club-face straight and balanced with the shoulders. While your shoulders are turning during the backswing, if the club-face isn’t then you should stop and start over.

Right now you should be focusing on your intended line of flight. Once you address the ball, your hands and the club-face should be square. Then of course the shoulders are parallel with the line as well. The goal is to make this the same when you’re returning to strike the ball.

You will notice that your beginning procedure during the backswing will be the reason why your club returns in the same manner. If you alter any portion of the initial procedure, the end result will not be a good one. So make sure you keep your set-up the same way every single time. The end result will leave you with a club-face that isn’t open or closed due to the motions of your hands and wrists.

The golf swing is all about repetition and if you figure it out in the early stages, you won’t have to worry about squaring the club-face in your golf short game.

Understanding the movement just as you would for short shots.

Anytime you make your short shot strokes, it’s the hands that bring direct contact with the club. The way it works is your senses from the hands to the forearm and up just below your shoulder are evident. What you need to do is keep the club head anywhere from 8-12 inches behind the ball. Your shoulders and chest should commence their turn. During this time the chest will move over the retracted stomach and in turn will allow the shoulder to tuck up under the chin. This will be the point of the top of your swing.

Make sure your stomach is kept retracted, even if you think you can’t.

Now that you’re here, it’s time to talk about the upper arm leverage. This is what carries the club up and back with an extended left arm. Just make sure it’s not completely stiff.

Without rolling open your forearms or wrists, the backswing will begin without the club-face shut. There are times when this occurs, but it’s in the upper arm where you’re allowed to swing this free of the body as you make the turn. Just remember to keep that stomach retracted during your swing.

This is the only way you are going to be able to acquire the best upper left arm leverage possible, so it can find room to work. A good idea is to trace the pattern to allow for a well shaped golf swing done correctly. Keep in mind we’re only at the top of the swing, but we’ve yet to mention your proper footing.

Okay, this can get a little confusing, so let’s recap with the addition of the feet.

1. Move the club back and feel the motion in your left forearm and upper arm.

2. While turning the shoulders and chest, retract the stomach. What you’ll notice is it will allow you to get the upper left arm leverage needed to get a proper swing.

3. Make sure your right knee is flexing, but not too stiff. When turning you will be able to notice that your right hip will be back, instead of up.

Okay, are you ready to talk about those feet of yours?

Your first movement with the feet is going to be as natural as putting one in front of the other. When you do this you will notice a shift in your weight from the right side to the left, and vice versa.

Apply this same thought to your golf swing depending on what side of the ball you are hitting. When your foot moves into the backswing, the heel will come off the ground just a tad. This happens during the time you move straight back from the ball. This eventually moves the weight and shifts it to the ball of your foot.

Nice job working on correcting your new golf swing today.

The No Stress Way to Improve your New Golf Swing

Mastering the golf backswing has brought you to the point where you are ready to move onto the next phase. This would be the downswing. You now know the movement leading you here and now you can work on your downswing to perfect it.

In the downswing you will see the value of trained hands and developed upper-arm leverage.

The left foot controls a full lateral movement of the whole lower body, from the left foot up to the hips in the downswing. As you know, there is not any lateral movement during the backswing, but it is essential to the downswing. Keep in mind, though, that this lateral movement should only involved the lower body and the upper body, including the head should stay out of it.

The triple combination to learn for the downswing involves the lateral shift, the driving downwards with the hands and left arm at the start of the downswing, and the club being brought down BEHIND the hands and not being allowed to climb over them.

You are now set for a professional movement into the ball and accelerating through the hitting area.

This triple combination makes the movement into the golf ball. It is an important tool that requires work to master which can easily be done through these three moves.

It is unmistakable when you do master the feel of the combination. Once you reach this point you should have no issues retaining it. Once you have the feel you can do nothing but improve.

This power build up will be sustained as you go to the hitting area.

Throughout the movements the elbow stays in proper alignment. It should not disrupt the action and holding correctly ensures that. It also helps the left arm to follow its correct path. The factors that created the movement in the backswing will now help to complete the downswing.

The combination will also help ensure the shoulders are properly held and moved in the turn on the downswing. The shoulders often cause issues because players fail to hold them back. The shoulder turn is delayed so they can be inline at impact, which you now know.

The hips, as well, are going along with the general movement. The left hip moves to allow the arms to come in.

There should not be a reason to focus on hip movement, but shorter and older players may end up focusing in on them. In this case it helps to understand the workings of the move.

The hips moved back in the backswing and now are part of the lateral movement in the downswing. You have to stay alert about the tendency to move the right hip out. Just envision how the hips moved on the backswing and follow that path back.

The shoulders, hands and club head and all coming into the movement and you are positioned right to let the power go freely without force. The triple combination lets you build the momentum so you can get the required direction to the back of the ball and along the line of flight.

This critical part of the swing is mastered through regular practice which ensures an improvement in the new golf swing.

Posture Corrections for Knee Pain Ease

Knee pain and disability is widespread, second only to spinal conditions within the musculoskeletal system. dysfunction of the knee can be divided into several categories including deficient of the knee and impaired foot mechanics as the result of foot pain, general overuse of the knee joint,  inflammation due to arthritic changes in the joint, and traumatic injury from events such as sports and falls.

Non-trauma knee problems: Poor mechanics of the knee joint and the related stress on the soft tissues of the knee are, by far, the most common cause of non-traumatic pain. The patella or knee-cap is the most common area affected because many times the patella does not move sufficiently on the femur during bending of the knee causing undue stress on the tendons, cartilage and ligaments. This distinct condition is often called chondromalacia patella (CMP) or Patella Femoral Syndrome (Knee Cap Pain). This problem is due to imbalances in the quadriceps muscles of the thigh that attach to and move the patella. Imbalances in the muscles related to knee movement frequently originate from lower back problems, particularly in the sacroiliac joint. Pain and dysfunction can also be produced by imbalances in the muscle groups that attach to the knee. For example, pain on the medial or inside of the knee occurs when the muscles on the insides of the thigh are stressed and rigid.   Mechanical knee pain is also produced by gait deviations such as pronation.

The correlative pain from overuse is most generally felt during activity, particularly stair climbing, running, jumping, and following rising after prolonged sitting. A number of women are likely to be predisposed to painful overuse conditions for anatomical reasons, however such conditions are frequently related to wearing high heels on a regular basis.

It is important to re-establish proper muscle balance, restore appropriate motion to the patella and other knee joints, and to correct any subluxations of the sacroiliac joints and bones of the foot.  In specific cases, a brace is required to help with the positioning of the patella or to secure the joint. Chiropractors, such as your San Jose chiropractor, are fully trained to render the correct diagnosis and management of these problems.

Knee problems due to trauma: Traumatic injuries commonly occur during sports that involve running and jumping, especially. Sprains happen when tissue is torn by virtue of the knee being stretched or bent beyond the facility of the ligaments that hold the joint in place. The muscles that give motion to the knee can also be torn during injury causing a strain or pull of the muscle. As with a sprain, a muscle strain can range from a slight injury that requires little care to a serious injury requiring surgery. The knee also is comprised of two special “cartilages” – the menisci – between the tibia and the femur that provide for fluid mobility and cushioning. These cartilages can also be torn during trauma, and frequently require surgical repair, or even removal if damaged severely.

Traumatic knee injuries can cause serious pain and swelling and require urgent evaluation and attention. In most instances a qualified chiropractor, such as your San Jose Chiropractor, can take excellent care of these conditions, but there are some injuries that do need the skills of an orthopedic surgeon. Nevertheless, it is very important to stabilize the injured joint immediately and to use ice on the damaged area, if possible, until the injury can be examined.

Conditions such as poor mechanics and problems due to overuse, as well as traumatic injuries, need to be eliminated at an early stage. If not, the tissues of the knee joint, particularly the cartilage, will begin to erode. As a result the bones will rub on one another, and changes such as bone spurs can eventuate. This painful problem, known as degenerative joint disease or osteoarthritis, is commonly progressive with age. Common treatment may involve medications such as NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). However, there are natural anti-inflammatory supplements that are highly effectual such as rosemary, glucosamine sulfate, chondroitin sulfate, bioflavinoids, curcumin. Conservative treatment, such as chiropractic, can be extremely valuable in reducing the pain. Your San Jose chiropractor is will gladly discuss anti-inflammatory supplements. In addition, people can frequently aid themselves by keeping their weight down, doing exercises (especially in the pool), and wearing cushioned shoes or insoles.
