How To Swing A Golf Club – Get A Perfect Golf Swing

Ever wonder what it takes to be Tiger Woods? Ever wonder what techniques and methods he uses in order to shoot as many holes in one? The answer to that lies in your golf swing.

Perfecting a golf swing not only enables you to hit longer distance but also become more accurate in your swing.

The first thing that you need to learn in order to swing a golf club in the proper way is the posture of your body. You need to stand up straight, and then you should bend with your hips, with your feet a few distances apart. When you do a back swing, you need to rotate your torso and just set your lead wrist fully, in order to create a ninety degree angle between the shaft and your lead forearm.

When you are about to swing down, drag the head of the golf club so that it stays behind everything else and that you should let the ninety degree angle between the forearm and the shaft to increase, then let it go in a fast motion on the impact area.

The reason for this is that it gives the club head and the golf ball a forceful impact – at the same time that the swing makes you more in control of the situation.

Just be sure that the shaft of the golf club is moving forward when you hit the ball. The reason is that the shaft would have a direct impact on the ball, and would make you move in the proper way.

After you have measured your impact, you need to follow through with a swing. It really doesn’t matter how far you have swung the shaft, all it takes is that you need to follow the rhythm of your swing.

Ultimately, practice is everything in golf and you need to practice often to get a perfect golf swing.

Golf Tips: Hitting From Different Lies

Golf would be much easier, if every shot were from a nice flat spot in the fairway. Part of being a good golfer, is not only having a perfect shot from a flat lie in the fairway, but having a nice shot at any lie. Hitting a golf ball from a different lie, requires slight changes in the “normal” golf swing.

Hitting on a Downhill Lie

If the ball is on a hill sloping downwards, first you must consider playing a different club than you normally would from this same distance. Playing from a downhill lie will cause the ball to ball travel further, so play a club down. In other words, use a more lofted club.

Also, you will want to change where the ball is placed at address. Line up, so the ball is farther back in your stance than normal. In order to judge how far back to place the ball; take a normal practice swing, and note where the club makes contact with the ground. Line up so that the ball is where your club made contact with the ground. Finally, you will want to put a slightly greater amount of weight on the front foot than the back.

Hitting on an Uphill Lie

If the surface from which you are playing is sloping upwards, again consider playing a different club than you would from this distance on a flat lie. This time, play a club up; meaning use a club with less loft. This is because the uphill lie causes the ball to have a higher trajectory, therefore not traveling as far.

This time, at address, the ball should be placed more forward in your stance, than if you were hitting from a flat surface. Again, take note of where the club makes contact with the ground when taking a practice swing, and use this to judge where to place the ball. As far as weight distribution is concerned: place slightly more weight on the back foot for the uphill lie.

Hitting with the Ball Above Your Feet

When the ball is located above your feet, it will have a tendency to travel on a right to left trajectory. In order to compensate for the ball being above your feet, first choke down on the club. Then, make sure to aim right of the target, as the ball will travel left of where it is aimed.

Hitting with the Ball Below Your Feet

With the ball below your feet, you may feel slightly awkward at address, because of having to reach down to line up to the ball. In order to alleviate some of this awkwardness, bend your knees, and try not to be reaching for the ball. In this case, the ball will travel on a left to right trajectory, so aim to the left of the target.

Remember, in hitting from different lies, your swing mechanics will all be the same; do not attempt to change the rhythm or actual path of your swing. The changes that will be made in order to compensate for these different lies involve changing your position at set up, not the swing itself.

Guaranteed Basic Golf Swing Tips To Improve Your Game!

I can remember the first time I ventured out onto a golf course and tried to hit the cover off the ball on the first tee. My memory of that inauspicious debut was a skewed shot which disappeared into the bushes to the right and became just another lost ball statistic. My basic golf swing technique for starters was crappy but more importantly, I didn’t really understand the mechanics of the golf swing.

The end result of that very first game was a large triple figure score and about fifteen golf balls which never saw the light of day again. Oh, I can laugh about it now but if you want to know what epitomised embarrassment I’m here to tell you it was yours truly on that fateful day.

Can you as a novice draw similar comparisons? Well, if you haven’t mastered the basic golf swing yet and you plan on improving your driving, chipping and putting then read the rest of this article.

Physics And The Basic Golf Swing

Before you can even think about using brute strength in you swing you need to understand golf isn’t really a game about power. It’s more timing and that’s why it’s a good idea to examine your clubs closely. Notice how each one is designed just a little differently than the other. The three iron has a more flatter blade than the nine iron. The three iron is designed for hitting the ball longer distances while the nine iron is designed for more up and under.

Getting into the habit of using the appropriate club for the appropriate play will get you forming good basic golf swing habits. It’s a similar story with the driving woods. In most cases, you’ll have a selection to choose from. I have four and my favorite is the fairway wood. It’s designed to be used as the follow up to the tee shot on a long range hole and used correctly, is very effective in getting a clean, crisp shot away without forcing the shot with unnecessary power.

Golf Exercise

Believe it or not, one of the keys to maintaining a good basic golf swing is fitness, or being golf fit if you like. Identifying your golfing muscles is important and if you are not sure, ask an experienced golfer. No, it doesn’t mean you need to spend five days in a gym building up to Mr. Universe levels. Simple golf stretch exercises; some involving use of a club and others just basic body stretches. You’ll be surprised how effective muscle conditioning will help your basic golf swing movement.

Enlisting the services of a short term coach is a great way to learn the basic skills. It’s like building a house; get the foundation right and you have something to build on. A coach will quickly pin point your problem areas and address them quickly. Ask at your favorite clubhouse the next time you’re there.

The basic golf swing in many ways is like a player’s “holy grail.” Once it’s mastered, you can then plan for bigger and better things, including the odd power drive off the tee!

Slow Down You Move Too Fast – Golf Swing Basics

If you are a beginner golfer then you know that to make the ball go a long way you need to hit the ball hard and fast, Right?? Well yes and no.

The golf swing basics involve a number of aspects that you need to get right. The speed of your golf club head is only one of these aspects.

There are about a half dozen elements in the basics of a good golf swing and while every one will do them slightly differently, sticking to the golf swing basics will help prevent the beginner golfer from thinking too hard about their golf swing.

The Basics of the Golf Swing

The first part of your golf swing is the mental part. Many would say that this is where most games are won and lost on the golf course. For the starter golfer you never want to look stupid on the first tee when you thwack your ball into the trees or the nearest lake. You need to blank out all thoughts and surroundings when addressing the golf ball and just think about where you plan the ball to go. Do not give any thought time to how you will feel if you miss. Just focus on your shot.

One of the pressurizing aspects of taking a golf shot is that you are always being watched. You have your opponents and maybe the following group watching your every move. You must ignore all of this outside attention and just work through your shot. Make it clear what you are going to do and then do it.

Because you are a beginner it will not always work but that is not the issue. If you are in charge mentally then you will eventually get more right than you will wrong.

Controlling Your Swing Speed for More Accuracy

This is the single simple most important golf tip that you can adopt to improve you accuracy and distance. Control your golf club. If you are swinging your golf club so fast that it is not under full control then you will never get the distance you need. Swing your club as fast as you can while still being in control of the moment of contact. By slowing your club down by up to 30% speed you will actually increase your distance. This is as a result of better contact with the sweet spot of the golf club face.

Whether you are a hooker or a swinger of the golf ball this slowing down of the golf club will ensure better distance and very quickly reduce your banana golf shots. Your swing technique will improve as you take control of the pace of your golf swing.

Another mistake with the speed of your swing is to try and speed up in the last 18 inches before contact with the golf ball. By doing this you will again lose the straight shooting you are looking for. You must make your swing smooth on the backswing and smooth and controlled on the downswing. The club head will naturally gain momentum on the way down. There is no need to force it.

Once you know you have control of the clubhead then you can consider trying to add more speed to your swing. But do not think about the speed when you are hitting the ball. Think about being in control of your swing
