GENERATE POWER AT SETUP

We all want more power and distance. Regardless of whether you hit the ball 200 or 300 yards, adding an extra 10-15 yards to your driver gives any player confidence and a decisive advantage over the competition. Over the years as I have taught online golf lessons, many golfers have emailed me consistently with a breakdown of distance per club. They also provide where they would like to get to; usually 10-15 yards increase off the tee & from the fairway with their irons. The following tips are recommended for players who want an easy way to generate extra distance off the tee. I don’t recommend this set-up from the fairway or around the green, but will give you and extra 10-15 yards off the tee. The is a simple breakdown including different ways that power and distance is generated in our golf swing (I want you to understand what generates power):

Solid Ball Contact: Not on heel or toe.

Hand rotation through the impact zone.

Weight shift through the swing (i.e. ball).

Follow-Through position: This is more of a check point.Club face up at follow- through = less power.Club face down at follow-through = greater power.

Problem Lack of distance off the tee. Solution I am going to teach you a modified set-up that will allow for maximum power generation.Typically golferss that have a slight draw generate more distance than golfers that hit a fade, so this set-up will put you in a position to hit a draw. This is also true for PGA tour playersrs. The following, are steps to modify your set-up in order to allow for maximum distance generation:

Go through your normal set-up routine as we teach in the DVD.And remember to bend at the hips and not the stomach.

Close your stance: Move your trailing foot back so that your toes are parallel to the middle of your leading foot.

Put a little more weight on your front foot: Instead of 50/50 you’ll have 40% on your trailing leg and 60% of your weight on your leading leg.In essence you’ll almost be leaning a little forward at set-up.

Knee bend remains the same and take your normal swing, focusing on really shifting your weight and rotating your hands through the impact zone.

These adjustments place your body in a very powerful position at set-up. Again only implement this set-up off the tee.You can try it w/ your irons on the practice range, and if you see amazing results then play with it on the course, but please don’t change your entire set-up for your irons. This tip is simply an adjustment to add extra distance off the tee.

Playing a chip shot from the fringe of a green versus putting through the fringe can be a little confusing for the average golfer. A lot of golfers choose to putt for the fear of not being able to control the distance of a chip shot around a green, and lets not talk about choking a chip shot. More often than not the confidence lies in the ability to putt the ball. When do you decide to chip instead of putt?

A quick review of some your options will help in the decision process. The circumstances have to be right to putt the ball. Here are some golf tips to consider and several situations to help your decision on choosing to chip the golf ball rather than electing to putt.

You may want to chip in these circumstances.

(1)Wet grass or thick grass.

The moisture or thickness of the grass is going to slow up the ball considerably, therefore weight of putt has to be determined to get it through the grass, and once you get it rolling on the green, the weight of putt it took you to get it through the fringe may not be enough or too much distance for the golf hole. In this circumstance there is too much weight control to consider.

(2)A very wet or slow green.

Chipping the golf ball will take a lot of moisture out of play, and a slow green forces you to swing harder with a putter to get the golf ball up to the hole, when the art of putting should call for a soft touch.

(3)Long grass and uphill to the hole.

You have to hit it harder to get it through the grass with a putter and up to the hole. Eliminate the chance of getting the golf ball caught up in the grass by chipping out and over.

(4)Over 7 feet of grass between golf ball and start of green, and hole is beyond center of green.

Chipping over the grass will eliminate slowing the golf ball up if you have a lot of green to work with.

(5)Hole is beyond center of green and more than 20 feet.

The odds are higher on getting the golf ball beyond 20 feet with a chipper versus a putter.

(6)Sprinkler system directly in front of line to golf hole or other obstacle that will affect the roll of golf ball.

Eliminate possible deflection of golf ball by chipping over the obstacle.

(7)Too much rolling terrain in the first 1/3 distance to the hole.

Taking most of the rolling green out of play by chipping over will give you a lot less rolling green to read unless you are very good at reading greens.

You have the ultimate decision on your ability to play any one of these golf club selections in these circumstances, but there is a good reason to think about these circumstances before you choose the club. I hope some of these golf tips will help in your decision process, and your goal to save strokes.

To be a successful golfer you must maintain an extremely high level of focus. By maintaining a high level of focus throughout your game, you will become a better and more successful golfer.

If you are indecisive you could accidentally make a bad shot. Confidence is the key to making accurate shots that help lower your overall score. If you are indecisive you might accidentally shake right before you take a shot.

If you are either indecisive or not confident you will not accurately hit the golf ball with the head of the golf club. Before taking a shot, you should visualize where you want the ball to go. You should keep this picture in your mind throughout your entire stroke.

You should constantly practice vital approach shots because they give you the opportunity to lower your score every time you execute them correctly. Practicing approach shots is one of the most valuable ways to spend your time as a golfer. Through constant practice you will be able to develop confidence and precision in your new golf swing. This will allow you to attack the hole with a more confident golf stance and stroke. By striking the ball correctly, you will eventually be able to play with longer clubs that allow you to hit the ball with more accuracy and power.

The high pitch-and-run results in a similar play to the pitch shot. The low pitch-and-run shot gives less carry and more run when striking the golf ball with your club. This shot works best in a scenario where the wind is blowing. When taking this type of a shot the club face should be hooded. This means that the ball should be played with more weight on the back foot during the stroke. You should also take these considerations to heart during the run-up that is played with a club that is straighter faced. One of these golf clubs is the five iron, but the actual club that you use for this type of a shot is completely up to you!

Playing from the rough is one of the most difficult things to do as a golfer. There are several things that you need to take into consideration when playing from the rough. You must realize that putting back-spin on the ball is much more difficult in the rough than it is on the fairway. For this reason, you should allow the ball to roll more on the green when it lands.

Playing better golf requires you to putting significantly more weight on your left foot. When you are in a nasty spot, you might accidentally lean back on your right foot. Many amateur golfers make the mistake of gripping the club more fiercely when they are in a bind. This is one of the major mistakes that amateur golfers make. If you grip the club with too hard then you will slack a hold at impact.

The bunker stroke is also something that needs to be mastered.

If you get a good lie in a bunker your stroke is very straight forward. When the sand is fine and dry it is actually one of the most simple and effortless strokes or shots that you can make in the game of golf.

When making this type of a shot you should use your heavy sand-iron. You should then lay the face back slightly, the complete opposite of hooding the club. Having an open stance is also important. Your feet should be extremely close to each other and should be firmly planted in the ground. A firm stance will prevent your feet from moving in the sand during your golf swing. When striking the ball you should focus on hitting the sand an inch or two before the ball.

Playing a ball in a sand trap is extremely different from striking a ball in the fairway. When you play a ball in the fairway you want to strike the ball itself. When you play a ball in the sand you want to hit the sand an inch or so before the ball and not the actual ball itself. During your stroke you should slowly and smoothly move the club back outside the line and then swing down normally an inch or so before the ball. This will allow you to successfully play the ball out of the sand trap.

At that point the heavy handed sand-iron will drop into the sand. This will create a cushion of sand against the club surface that forces the ball up and onto the fairway or green. This cushion of sand will help you gently play the ball onto the green without hitting the ball too far.

One of the main mistakes that amateur golfers make when playing a golf ball in the sand is that they try and manipulate the club head. As the club comes out of the sand you should maintain the angle and shape of the club. You should not allow your wrist to roll over at all. You should also focus on maintaining the length of the backswing as well as the follow-through. When playing the ball in the sand you should focus on making a smooth effortless swing.

By mastering playing the ball in the sand you will be able to easily escape any bunker and significantly lower your golf score!
