How Online Golf Equipment Reviews Helped My Love Of The Game

When a friend of mine introduced me to golf many years ago, I wasn’t overly impressed and asked him what he saw in the game. He said, “Well, golf means different things to different people. To me, it’s mostly about being away from my busy life for a few hours, being one with nature, and talking to some good friends.” That made sense to me, but I quickly found out what he meant as I became a golfer, too, taking lessons and burying myself in golf equipment reviews.

People do take up golf for different reasons and it does mean something different to almost every player. For some, like my friend, it’s relaxing on a beautiful course and enjoying nature and the scenery. To others it’s a great way to meet with clients and close deals. Some just enjoy an occasional round. Others get hooked and pursue mastery of the game with single-minded passion. But no matter what attracts you to the game of golf, we all have something in common: we need equipment. Lots of it.

Initially I had a real problem with that. Golf shops intimidated me. I didn’t really know much about golf clubs, golf shoes or even golf bags and I was embarrassed about my lack of knowledge. Whenever I went to a pro shop, everyone else seemed to be an expert, knowing everything about golf, except me. I didn’t understand half of what sales people were talking about and I didn’t even understand many of their questions. So I felt they were talking down to me and I resented that.

So I began reading golf books and magazines and asked golfing buddies for advice. I ended up with a good set of clubs, found that some balls worked better for me than others (I am a Titleist man), and spent a small fortune on golf equipment (Nike made a small fortune off me) I did or did not need. Truth be told, my lack of knowledge and my being ill at ease with the sales people in the pro shops probably kept me from enjoying the game as much as I should have.

All of this changed in the past few years. I am an online person. To me, finding accurate and unbiased golf equipment reviews on the web was just what I had been waiting for. I am not talking about just online golf stores or golf bulletin boards. What helped me were sites done by golfing enthusiasts who simply wanted to share their knowledge with others. See, while I used to be aware of the likes of Burton or Ogio or Ping, there wasn’t anyone who told me who truly made the best bag for me. I was told some of the training aids out there really worked while others were a waste of money but I didn’t know which was which. I knew of amazing advancements in golf carts and I had even heard of new technologies like golf gps, but I didn’t know what was valuable information and what was just marketing.

For me, the emergence of golf enthusiast sites with golf equipment reviews made all the difference. I love reading reviews written by real people as opposed to just sales spiels, and I love how some of those sites explain it all in terms that make sense. I love to read and learn, and these days I totally rely on golf sites that are not only entertaining, but also provide me with the reviews I need and even recommendations on where to get the best deals.

Tips On How To Buy Golf Accessories

There is a seemingly endless supply of golf accessories on the market today, and more are coming out all the time. But which ones are good investments, and which are a waste of time? Well, let’s discuss some of the golf accessories that have proven themselves to be most useful.

Very high on the list of the most useful golf accessories are golf books and videos. Of course, there are countless books and videos on the subject of golf to choose from. But for those that are just beginning, or for those that want to improve their game, books and videos can be a great aid in learning how to play the game better. It’s always best to take golf lessons from a qualified pro who can analyze your particular swing characteristics and help you correct mistakes that you’re making. But having some golf books and videos that you can also look at and study on your own can be beneficial as well. The advantage that books and videos have is that they can give you step-by-step diagrams and images that can make learning the game so much easier. So why not ask your golf instructor for his recommendation on the best golf books and videos to use along with his personal instruction?

Golf gloves have been in use for many years, and they have a very beneficial use for most golfers. It’s obvious that the golf swing introduces quite a bit of torque in the body during the backswing, and it’s very easy for your hands to lose good contact with the club while going through the backswing. A good golf glove can help prevent the club from twisting in your hand as you swing, helping you maintain a more consistent swing every time. When looking for a golf glove its usually best to stick with a leather glove, and one that is water repellent.

Knowing the distance to the golf pin from where you are on the course is one of the most difficult things for newer golfers to master. But these days, you can buy a golf range finder to help you calculate the exact distance to the flag every single time. Usually these range finders come in a binocular design and use a laser beam to calculate the distance to the flagstick. So if you happen to be terrible at guessing distances, a good golf range finder can be a worthwhile investment.

One of the most useful golf accessories that you can buy is a good set of golf clubhead covers. As your clubs travel in your golf bag they often bang against one another, and it’s very easy for them to actually damage the club faces when they do. Having a good set of club head covers can solve that problem easily and quickly, protecting your irons and woods from knicks and scratches along the way.

Golf swing software can also be beneficial for many golfers, helping them break down each segment of their swing and analyze it carefully. Many golf analyzer software programs will even allow you to compare your swing with some of the pros, giving you a good example of what you want your swing to look like as you make improvement. All you have to do is capture the video of your golf swing, and then use the golf swing software to make the analysis.

The game of golf is meant to be both fun and challenging at the same time, and there are plenty of golf accessories that meet that criteria too. Hopefully the list of accessories mentioned above will help you be able to improve your game as well.

Lastly, here are some tips you can take with you right now and we hope that can help you improve your golf game.

Tip 1. Did you know that your grip — how you hold the golf club — is a factor that can affect your golf swing? Your top thumb must point up directly at you and comfortably grip the golf club.

Tip 2. If you find your hands hurting while you golf or after the game, you may be gripping the golf club too tightly. Loosen your grip a little and relax. If you can’t relax, your tension will affect your game.

Tip 3. Having an even golf swing plane also contributes to the success of your golf swing. The club face must be square with the golf ball upon impact if you want to hit the golf ball straight.

Tip 4. Consistency and persistence is the key. The only way to get better is to do the same thing over and over with a concerted effort to following the basics. Visit golf course consultants for further information.

Some Golf Instructions and Tips for Improvement

Golf instructions and tips always come handy together with so many other things such as golf lessons, clinics, books, and so on. All of these are basically meant for one purpose; that is to improve your golf backswing skills. And the best part is that on the Internet, most of the golf instructions come free, unlike the books and lessons. But these common golf instructions are not sufficient, simply because they are pretty much on the surface only.

You need to buy instruction books that cover almost the entire game in detail, right from the basic tips to the equipment and apparel you need. Such simple golf instructions are also taught in golf lessons or schools, both in groups or individually.

Typically there are two different types of people who seek these golf instructions, which would be those who want to learn right from the basics, and the other would be those who want to improve their skills or correct their handicaps in the game. If you go to a golf training school, you would be divided accordingly into these two different groups, wherever you belong.

Instructions in Golf Lessons

You can either choose to go to the class in which people are focusing on any or all parts of the game or you can also go for those only focusing on hitting the golf ball longer. Both classes teach differently, and their common golf instructions vary, due to the level of the skills.

For golf instructions to be effective, you need practice. Practicing here does not refer to just going once a week to the course and spending an hour or two. Every session of the class usually comes with a practicing session, so basically you spend more than half of your day at the course when you have golf instructions or classes.

Golf instructions can be divided into two; one is the tips given to the aspects of the game, and the other on the game itself. The aspects of the game would refer to putting skills, golf swinging skills, and others. The game itself would refer to the details of it, how to start off, how to be disciplined, and so on.

Most of the golf instructions taught in classes are basically what can be found online; if you give some effort to find it. But as said before, if you want an all rounded playing scheme for yourself, you need to attend these classes, as the golf instructions given there are far better than those found online.
